Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday received a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi during her official visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the Bangladeshi leader at the president’s estate.

Later in the day, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks. This is Hasina’s second trip in a month as she flew to the national capital earlier this month to attend PM Modi’s oath-taking ceremony.

The Bangladeshi prime minister’s official visit to India will be the first bilateral held by India under the Modi 3.0 government.

During the visit, both the leaders will hold a one-to-one meeting followed by delegation-level talks, and Dhaka and New Delhi will sign several agreements and MoUs to strengthen the existing bilateral ties further, it said.

Additionally, discussions on a potential trade pact are expected. Over the past decade, numerous cross-border initiatives have been launched as part of a robust regional partnership plan.

According to a report by the Economic Times, the two sides will also discuss holding a joint military exercise. India has already offered a $500 million line of credit to Dhaka which is yet to be utilised.

PM Modi and Hasina will also review the overall bilateral relationship along with assessing the various developmental projects undertaken by both countries including road, rail and connectivity.
