Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday played ‘dhol’, a traditional Indian drum, during his visit to Singapore.

Upon his arrival in Singapore, Modi was accorded a welcome at his hotel in the form of a traditional Indian dance that also featured ‘dhol’. As dancers in traditional attire welcomed him, Modi also joined the drummers in playing the dhol. The agencies have shared the visuals of the moment.

Singapore is the second and the final leg of Modi’s tour of Southeast Asia. Earlier on Monday, Modi had arrived in Brunei and he arrived in Singapore earlier in the day.

In Singapore, Modi will holds talks with PM Lawrence Wong. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) upon his arrival in the nation, Modi said he was looking forward to boosting the India-Singapore relationship.

“Looking forward to the various meetings aimed at boosting the India-Singapore friendship. India’s reforms and the talent of our Yuva Shakti makes our nation an ideal investment destination. We also look forward to closer cultural ties,” said Modi in a post.

In a montage shared by state-run Prasar Bharati, Modi is seen being received by the diaspora chanting his name.

During his welcome by the diaspora in Singapore, a woman also tied Rakhi on Modi’s wrist.
