The MCD on Monday also issued show cause notice to the engineer of Karol Bagh Zone, JV Meena, asking to explain as to why water logging took place at Bara Bazar Area in the Old Rajinder Nagar around Rau’s IAS Coaching Centre on July 27 and “why action be not taken against him for not taking timely action to prevent/contain it.”

Education Minister reacts on students’ death

“There was negligence,” said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in the Rajya Sabha on Monday while replying to a question regarding the death of three civil services aspirants at a premier UPSC coaching centre in New Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area on Saturday.

“Only when accountability is fixed, there will be a solution… It is our responsibility to ensure that such an incident is not repeated,” Pradhan said.

Govt committed to total socio-psychological & mental protection of students

Earlier on Monday, leaders across party lines in the Lok Sabha condemned the death of the three students following flooding of a coaching centre. Responding to that, Pradhan said: “… but I like to assure the House through you, this government is committed to total socio-psychological and mental protection of all students, whether they are studying in a coaching center, in an institution, school education or higher education.”

He also said that the government had issued guidelines on the regulation of coaching centres in January this year.

BJP blames AAP

The BJP has blamed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the deaths of three students at the Rau’s IAS coaching centre.

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that those who were responsible for the deaths did not even show any sign of tension on their faces, let alone shed tears.

“The government which should have regulated the coaching institutes seriously failed to do so. The incident which took place is very unfortunate…It is sad that those who were responsible for them, not only did they not shed any tears nor did they have any tension on their faces (Jinke aankhon main aasu rehne chahiye. unke chehre par shikan tak nahi ayi)…,” ANI quoted Trivedi as saying in the Rajya Sabha.

Five more arrestedDelhi Police have arrested five more individuals, including the basement owner, in connection with the deaths caused by the flooding at the coaching institute in Old Rajinder Nagar. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to seven.

Those arrested on Monday include the basement owners and a person who allegedly drove a vehicle that damaged the building’s gate.
