Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that terrorism is breathing its “last breath” in Jammu and Kashmir as a possible new leadership under the BJP will herald safety and security in the region.
PM Modi addressed people in Doda ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, making it the first time a prime minister has visited the district in 47 years.
“We and you together will make Jammu and Kashmir a secure and prosperous part of the country,’ he said.
He said his government focused on carving out a young leadership soon after “we came to power at the Centre in 2014.” “Terrorism is breathing its last in Jammu and Kashmir,” he further said.
During his speech, the prime minister also remembered Tika Lal Taploo, the first Kashmiri Pandit associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, who was killed by terrorists.
“My youth in Jammu and Kashmir continued to suffer due to terrorism and the parties promoting nepotism continued to have fun by misleading you,” he said, slamming the dynastic politics played by some parties.
“The stones that were earlier raised to attack the police and army are now being used to create the new Jammu and Kashmir,” PM Modi further said.
