Women BJP workers on Wednesday staged a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in New Delhi over the Swati Maliwal assault case.
Suspense over AAP MP and former Delhi Commission for Women chief’s alleged assault by Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar continues to grow with her ex-husband Naveen Jaihind claiming that “her life is in danger”.
Although Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh addressed the matter during a press conference on Tuesday, admitting that Kumar did attack Maliwal in the chief minister’s residence earlier this week, there is no response from Kejriwal himself who is currently out on bail till June 2.
Meanwhile, Maliwal has not publically commented on her assault yet and according to the Delhi Police, there is no official complaint lodged on the matter.
‘Why isn’t CM saying anything?’
The Bharatiya Janta Party has blamed the AAP government for keeping mum over the assault against their own leader and has demanded Kejriwal’s resignation.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said, “When (AAP MP) Sanjay Singh himself has confirmed the incident of misbehaviour with Swati Maliwal at CM’s residence, then why isn’t CM saying anything? The incident happened at his residence, he should have called the police. But, he is not doing anything which throws his role in all this under suspicion.”
“I am shocked at why Arvind Kejriwal is silent on this issue? Till now AAP has only condemned the incident, why no action has been taken by Arvind Kejriwal? If CM Arvind Kejriwal can’t ensure the security of his own party’s woman MP then how can he ensure the security of females of Delhi?” said Bansuri Swaraj, BJP’s candidate from New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
Ex-husband Naveen Jaihind speaks up
Soon after AAP leader Sanjay Singh’s press conference, Maliwal’s ex-husband and former AAP leader
Naveen Jaihind
posted a video on X claiming that her life is in danger.
“Whatever happened with Swati Maliwal is part of a big conspiracy and there is danger to her life,” Jaihind said.
Earlier today, he said, “FIR should be lodged against Arvind Kejriwal because this happened at his home…Sanjay Singh is a parrot of Arvind Kejriwal.”
“Action should be taken and Swati should come out…She can’t be scared into silence, I don’t know what pressure has been put on her,” Jaihind added.
