A week after two girl students of a kindergarten were allegedly sexually abused by a cleaning staff in Maharashtra’s Badlapur, Eknath Shinde-led government on Tuesday said that it is building a water-tight case against the arrested accused who will face trial in a fast-track court.

The comments came at a time when thousands of protesters on Tuesday blocked the Mumbai rail route at Badalpur railway station, bringing train services to a standstill.

The protest turned violent as agitators vandalised the school, where the alleged incident took place last week, and also indulged in stone-pelting at the Badlapur railway station.

According to an NDTV report, visuals showed protesters pelting stones at cops as they fled across the railway tracks.

Taking to X, Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora said that the public outrage over the horrific Badlapur incident is a clear message that violence against women and children will not be tolerated.

He also listed out the action taken by the Maharashtra government so far and said that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have ordered a water-tight case against the accused.

“…The Maharashtra Government’s response so far – The accused has been arrested & will face trial in a fast-track court, An SIT under a DG Rank officer has been established, The school principal, class teacher & attendants have been suspended, Police officers who delayed action have been removed from duty, Education Minister Deepak Kesarkaris on the ground in Badlapur, CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis have ordered a water-tight case against the accused…,” said the Shiv Sena leader.

He further said that Maharashtra’s zero tolerance policy on sexual assault remains firm — justice will be served and no one will be spared.
