While delivering a poignant address at the joint session of the parliament, President Droupadi Murmu lauded PM Narendra Modi’s administration for taking the country’s economy to new heights.
President Murmu insisted that the NDA government’s “pledge to reform, perform and transform” has made India the fastest-growing economy in the world. While addressing the parliamentarian a month after the election results were released, President Murmu pointed out how India rose from 11th position to become the world’s 5th largest economy.
“Despite a pandemic and conflicts in different parts of the world, India has been able to achieve this growth rate,” President Murmu averred. “This became possible due to the reforms and decisions taken in the national interest in the last 10 years. Today, India contributes to 15% of the global growth,” she added, insisting that her government is working towards making India the 3rd largest economy in the world.
The budget will showcase ‘futuristic vision’: President
During her speech, the President also expressed her hopes for the upcoming Union Budget. “This government is going to present the first budget of this term,” she said in the joint gathering.
“This budget will be an effective document of the government’s far-reaching policies and futuristic vision. Along with big economic and social decisions, many historic steps will also be seen in this budget,” she added.
The president stated that the results of this year’s election showed that people still trust the government and that’s why they elected them to power for the third time. “A stable government with a complete majority has been formed in the country after six decades. People have shown trust in this Govt for the third time. People are aware that only this Govt can fulfil their aspirations,” President Murmu explained.
She also elucidated what makes the 18th Lok Sabha so special. “The 18th Lok Sabha is a historic Lok Sabha in many ways. This Lok Sabha was formed in the early years of the Amrit Kaal,” the president remarked. This Lok Sabha will also be a witness to the 56th year of adoption of the Constitution of the country,” she furthered.
President Murmu lauded the Election Commission of India
While addressing the joint session, the president also took time to express gratitude to the Election Commission of India for conducting transparent elections in the country.
“On behalf of crores of countrymen, I would like to express gratitude Election Commission of India. This was the biggest election in the world…Decades-long records of voting have been broken in J&K,” she said. President Murmu also called out negative opinions that floated in the international arena about the abrogation of Article 370. “India’s enemies propagated it as the opinion of Kashmir, on international forums. But this time, Kashmir Valley gave a befitting reply to all such forces,” she added.
President Murmur’s address was followed by the address from the country’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
