The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted snowfall and rain showers in several parts of Himachal Pradesh starting from tomorrow, i.e., January 5. Moreover, light snowfall is also likely to occur in some hilly areas of the state.

Districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, etc, are expected to receive heavy snowfall tomorrow, while several other states might witness rainfall.

Moreover, the weather department has issued a ‘yellow alert’, signifying heavy snowfall in districts including – Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Lahaul and Spiti, Mandi, and Shimla- on January 6. On January 7, these districts are likely to witness light snowfall.

As per the MeT department, January 8 promises the skies to remain clear.

Minimum and maximum temperatures in Shimla break records

In Shima and Manali, the minimum temperature on Thursday night, i.e., January 3, stood at 11.5 and 7.1 degrees celsius respectively. Notably, the cities have not witnessed such high temperatures during any corresponding periods.

The maximum temperature of Shimla was recorded at 21.6 degrees celsius, breaking its past record of 2006 when the same was measured at 21.4 degrees celsius.
