The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed its first chargesheet in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case in which it has named 13 people as accused.
In a release, the CBI said that it has “utilised advanced Forensic Techniques, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology, CCTV footages, Tower location analysis, etc. to gather evidence against the accused.”
The accused named in the CBI first chargesheet in NEET-UG 2024 case were allegedly involved in the paper leak and other irregularities.

The charges slapped on these 13 accused include – sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (destruction of evidence), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 380 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 420 (cheating), and 109 (abetment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“Several other accused are already in police/ judicial custody. As and when further investigation against these accused/ suspects is complete, supplementary charge sheet(s) will be filed,” the CBI said.
The central probe agency also said that it is continuing further investigation against other accused/ suspects and on other aspects of the case.
“Investigation is continuing on day to day basis,” the CBI further said.
40 accused arrested by CBI in NEET-UG paper leak case
The CBI further said that it has, so far, arrested 40 accused in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case, including 15 arrested by Bihar Police.
The agency has also conducted searches at 58 locations.
The CBI, which has been investigating the alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination, has lodged six FIRs.
The FIR in the NEET-UG case from Bihar pertains to paper leak, while the others from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra are related to impersonation of candidates and cheating.
The CBI’s FIR on a reference from the Union Education Ministry pertains to a “comprehensive investigation” into the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, is conducted by the National Texting Agency (NTA) for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across India.
The NEET-UG 2024 was conducted on May 5 at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 abroad. More than 23 lakh candidates appeared for the test.
