Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said that the Central government will form a high-level committee to look into the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) amid the allegations of irregularities during the medical entrance examination NEET.

“We are committed to hold zero-error exam, and a high-level committee is being formed to improve NTA functioning,” Pradhan said at a briefing in New Delhi on Thursday, assuring that his ministry is in regular contact with the Bihar Police in regards to the alleged paper leak of NEET UG 2024.

The education minister further said that the enquiry conducted till now shows evidence of “errors in some regions”, and assured students that everyone involved in the security breach will be punished.

“Strict action to be taken against any official of NTA if found guilty.” the minister said on NEET row.

Pradhan said that the government is committed to safeguarding interest of students. “We have received inputs from the Bihar government about NEET examination. Patna Police is investigating the matter and they will soon send a detailed report to the Government of India. Preliminary information indicates that errors were limited to a specific region,” he said.

UGC NET June 2024 question paper circulated on Telegram

On the cancellation of UGC NET June 2024 day after the examination, Pradhan said the investigation revealed that the question paper was leaked ‘in the darknet’.

He went on to say that the NET June 2024 question paper that was circulated on the social media platform, Telegram, matched with the original question paper.

“Let us have faith in our systems; no irregularities or malpractices will be tolerated by govt,” the minister said.
