On Monday, May 13, polls for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held in 96 Parliamentary Constituencies spread over nine states and one Union Territory. Tomorrow will also see elections for all 175 seats in the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and 28 seats in the Odisha State Legislative Assembly.

Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha elections will feature 1,717 candidates from 10 States and Union Territories, the Election Commission of India said on Friday.

A total of 4,264 nominations were submitted for 96 parliamentary constituencies nationwide, according to the poll commission.

The highest number of nomination forms were received from Telangana (1488), according to the Election Commission. Andhra Pradesh came in second with 1103 nominations from 25 constituencies.

For all ten states and territories, the deadline for submitting nominees for phase 4 was April 25, 2024.

The Election Commission said on Sunday that it has extended the polling hours (from 7 am to 6 pm) in certain assembly segments of Telangana’s 17 parliamentary constituencies in an effort to boost voter turnout.

25 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 17 in Telangana, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, 8 in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, 5 in Bihar, 4 in Jharkhand and Odisha, and 1 in Jammu and Kashmir are among the 96 Lok Sabha seats.

The fourth phase will witness key contests on various constituencies. Leaders such as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, TMC leader Mahua Moitra, BJP leader Giriraj Singh, JDU’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), TMC leaders Shatrughan Sinha and Yusuf Pathan, BJP leaders Arjun Munda and Madhavi Latha, Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief YS Sharmila will be looking for the electoral success.
