We started a bit late that morning. Since we had skipped lunch the previous two days due to a hectic schedule, my husband insisted we eat before going to Baisaran, just 15 minutes away,” Alby’s wife, Lavanya, recounted. She added that after having the first bite of their food, the family was given another round of the same order owing to too much salt in the first one. This forced the family to wait at the restaurant for a long time, delaying their plans to visit the Baisaran meadows. However, after finishing their lunch, the family resumed their journey before noticing something strange. “We saw horses galloping back in panic and taxis rushing down the road. People were shouting, but we couldn’t understand the local dialect,” Lavanya said. They flagged down a passing car and were informed of an issue involving the central security forces and tourists. The driver suggested they continue, assuring them that such incidents are typically resolved swiftly. However, sensing that the situation might be more serious, the family decided to turn back.STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS ADTo their surprise, the incident, which they initially thought would have been a scuffle, turned into a tragedy involving many tourists like themselves. “Until then, we thought it was a minor scuffle. I didn’t sleep that night,” she said.TagsJammu and KashmirKashmirEnd of Article
