An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kashmir’s Kupwara region on Tuesday. The security forces were able to establish contact with the infiltrators while the operation was still underway.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the Indian Army successfully foiled an infiltration attempt in the Battal sector during the wee hours of July 23.
A soldier lost his life during the gunfight after terrorists launched an attack at 3 am.
Sources told PTI that troops picked up the movement of the group of terrorists in the Battal forward area of the Krishnagati belt and forced the terrorists to retreat.
Lance Naik Subash Kumar was injured in the intense gunfight and later succumbed, they said, adding terrorists too suffered “loss”.
