Jharkhand might see a BJP comeback as the alliance led by it is projected to win 40 Assembly seats, exit polls showed on Wednesday.

The second phase of voting ended in Jharkhand on November 20 with the state recording a voter turnout of 59.53 per cent. The official results will be announced on November 20.

While poll of polls have predicted BJP-led NDA’s victory in Jharkhand, the fight is going to be tough. The saffron party is projected to win 40 out of the 81 Assembly seats while its opponent INDIA bloc might be able to bag 37 seats. The majority mark is 41.

Axis My India, on the other hand, is the only pollster that has foreseen BJP’s loss in the state, giving it only 25 seats. Meanwhile, it has predicted 53 seats for the INDIA bloc.

Meanwhile, JVC’s prediction reveals a neck-to-neck fight between the Congress-led alliance and NDA. BJP is expected to win 40-44 seats while the INDIA bloc might win 30-40 seats.

BJP leaders have expressed joy over the exit poll results with many corroborating with the numbers.

“People were in a mood for change for the last two years… Here 100% BJP, NDA government will be formed. The departure of this corrupt government is certain… We have said earlier also that if BJP government is formed, then whoever gets the opportunity under the guidance of BJP Legislative Party and central leadership will take Jharkhand forward,” BJP candidate from Chandankiyari seat Amar Kumar Bauri said.

We have many experienced leaders who have played the responsibility of former Chief Minister, whoever the party gives the opportunity will take the state forward,” he added.

Sita Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law, who fought on BJP’s ticket said, “I thank the public for supporting BJP. The govt which has been running for 5 years has betrayed the youth and women for the last 5 years. In this election, the women of Jharkhand have decided to bring change. Everyone came forward for ‘Roti, Beti and Maati’…on 23rd, we will see the change.”
