US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that India-US collaboration is crucial for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
In his address at the IIT-Delhi, Sullivan said that the US is taking necessary steps for the implementation of the civil nuclear cooperation with India.
”We are deeply invested in our relationship with India,” he said. The US NSA also said that US-India relations have fundamentally reached new level of cooperation in the last four years.
On China’s approach to critical technologies, Sullivan said interdependencies cannot be weaponised.
Sullivan says, “…Over the last four years, we’ve (US and India) joined hands to help halt a pandemic, to bring vaccines to the world. We’ve launched initiatives on jet engines, semiconductors and clean energy and in a few months time we’ll come together to put an Indian astronaut in space. These are remarkable achievements and we made them by harnessing the remarkable innovation of the American and Indian people…”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Sullivan in New Delhi on Monday. They discussed enhancing bilateral, regional, and global cooperation.Highlighting the significance of their discussions, Jaishankar acknowledged Sullivan’s “personal contribution” to strengthening the India-US partnership over the past four years.
Notably, Sullivan is on a visit to India from January 5-6. He also met NSA Ajit Doval and discussed issues ranging from space, defence, strategic technology cooperation as well as shared security priorities in the Indo-Pacific region.
