They said one infiltrator was killed in the confrontation.The spokesperson said, “At predawn, BSF personnel observed suspicious movement across near the Tashpatan border outpost (BoP) in Pathankot. He was challenged by the troops but paid no heed and kept moving towards the fence. Sensing threat, the personnel neutralised the intruder.”AdvertisementThe spokesperson further said that “a strong protest” will be lodged with Pakistan Rangers, the Pakistani paramilitary force deployed on its side of the border.The incident comes days after Indian and Pakistani forces held a meeting over increasing violence at the border that India blames on Pakistan.There have been multiple incidents along the India-Pakistan border, both the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC), this month. Two soldiers have been injured in cross-border firing in violation of the ceasefire agreement in place, two have been killed in an improved explosive device (IED) explosion, and one was injured in a blast along the border, according to HT.Following these incidents, a brigadier-level meeting was held between Indian and Pakistan borders along the LoC, the de facto border between India and Pakistan, on February 21.In a separate incident, the BSF said it intercepted and apprehended two persons entering India illegally in Meghalaya on Feb. 23.More from India
