Narendra Modi formally accepted the responsibility of leading the NDA on Friday after allied parties unanimously extended the post to him during a meeting in Parliament.
“It is with utmost humility that I accept the responsibility of leading the NDA to yet another term of development-oriented governance. I am grateful to our fellow NDA allies and MPs for their trust in me,” Modi said on X.
National Democratic Party leaders including JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar, TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde, among others were present at the meeting and extended their support to senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh’s proposal to elect Modi as the prime minister.

Following the meeting, Narendra Modi went to meet BJP founding member LK Advani and veteran politician Murli Prasad Manohar. After this, he and 15 NDA leaders reached the Rashtrapati Bhawan to stake claim to form the government before President Droupadi Murmu.
Now, Modi is likely to go to meet Murmu again at 6 pm to form the government.
Meanwhile, the leader will take oath as the prime minister for the third consecutive term. Several guests, including world leaders and Central Vista project workers, have been invited to attend the event.
