A day before Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman delivers her 8th consecutive Union Budget, she tabled the Economic Survey 2024-25 at the parliament. The survey provided an official assessment of the performance of the Indian economy in the ongoing financial year.

It suggested the roadmap towards Viksit Bharat and predicted a GDP growth rate of 6.3-6.8 per cent for FY26.

Ahead of the budget, the parliament also heard the customary address from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who shared the government’s achievements so far and its aims and ambitions to ensure the growth of the Indian economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave a short address ahead of the start of the Budget session.
