The air quality of the national capital witnessed a slight decline on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2025) with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 239 at 8 a.m., which falls under the “poor” category.

Earlier on Monday, Delhi experienced a brief improvement in the air quality with the AQI moving into “moderate” category, following significant rainfall over the past few days.

Meanwhile, several areas in Delhi including – Mundka, Nehru Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, North Campus, Rohini, and Siri Fort – experienced an AQI above 300, falling under the “very poor” category.

Minimum temperature at 8 degrees celsius

According to the weather department, the minimum temperature of the national capital is expected to remain 8 degrees celsius while the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 17 degrees celsius.

Moreover, Delhi is likely to receive rain showers on January 5 and 6, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Notably, the weather of the national capital has been slighty colder since the last week, with a thick haze blanketing the city, especially in mornings.
