Hours after the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Friday extended the chief minister’s judicial custody in the corruption case registered by the CBI over the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy.

Earlier today, the top court granted interim bail to the Aam Aadmi Party leader in the money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor policy scam.

While Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, he faced another case against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation which led to a second arrest on June 26 while he was already in judicial custody.

What is the CBI case against Kejriwal?

A double whammy for Kejriwal, apart from facing a case of money laundering, the chief minister was also slammed with a case of corruption by the CBI.

The central probe body has accused Kejriwal of being “one of the key conspirators” behind the irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy.

The CBI has argued that Kejriwal’s close aide and AAP’s former media-in-charge were in close contact with various liquor manufacturers and traders and demanded kickbacks since 2021.
