Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has moved a plea to the Supreme Court requesting an extension of his interim bail by seven days due to health concerns in the money laundering case associated with the excise policy scam.

Initially granted interim bail for 21 days on May 10 to facilitate his participation in Lok Sabha election campaigning, the Supreme Court stipulated that Kejriwal refrain from visiting his office or the Delhi secretariat and from signing official documents unless deemed necessary and approved by the lieutenant governor.

In his latest appeal, Kejriwal seeks an additional seven-day extension on health grounds, citing a weight loss of seven kilograms. The plea states that the chief minister requires medical examinations, necessitating an extension beyond the current expiration date of June 1.

The case revolves around allegations of corruption and money laundering in the formulation and implementation of Delhi’s now-defunct excise policy for the fiscal year 2021-22.

Atishi, Delhi Minister and AAP leader, commented, “Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court requesting a seven-day extension of his interim bail. As you are aware, he experienced a significant weight loss shortly after his arrest and has yet to recover. His medical tests have shown elevated ketone levels, prompting doctors to recommend further examination. Therefore, this petition has been filed,” she said.
