Two days after walking out of Tihar Jail on bail, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with party MLAs on Sunday.

In an address to the public after the meeting, Kejriwal said that his imprisonment was a plot of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to break the break AAP but the party became even stronger after the arrest.

In March, Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Scam. He was the senior-most AAP leader to be arrested in the case after his former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and party MP Sanjay Singh were arrested earlier.

Kejriwal walked out of the Tihar Jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him bail on the condition that he would not discharge any chief ministerial duties and would surrender to the jail on June 2.

‘BJP failed to break our party’

In an address shared by the party on X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal said that the BJP tried but failed to break AAP.

Kejriwal further said that he was concerned that the narrative could be lost during the elections if the Delhi government’s functioning was hampered because of his imprisonment, but that that did not happen.

“I was concerned about the stoppage of medicines at hospitals and free electricity-water, but all of you did a very good job and did not any conspiracy to succeed. With my arrest, the BJP wanted to break apart the party and topple the government. Contrary to this, the party became even stronger after my arrest,” said Kejriwal in Hindi.

Further making allegations against the BJP of breaking up the AAP, Kejriwal said that several MLAs and leaders of the party were contacted.

“During my imprisonment, many AAP MLAs and leaders were contacted by the BJP, but you did not break away. The entire country is proud of you,” said Kejriwal.

Kejriwal announces 10 guarantees

After his meeting with the MLAs, Kejriwal issued 10 guarantees for the Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal announced that his government at the centre will provide 24-hour electricity across the country. It would also replicate the Delhi model across the country and provide 200 units of electricity free and modernise government schools and hospitals.

Kejriwal further promised to scrap the Agnipath scheme for military recruitment, implement minimum support price (MSP) regime for farmers, provide 2 crore jobs a year, give full-statehood to Delhi, free Indian territory occupied by China, carry out a nationwide anti-corruption drive against the BJP, and simplify the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
