The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hailed the Delhi election results as a victory.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called the BJP’s victory the end of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) “rule of lies”.

As per the latest trends at 2 pm, the BJP is ahead on 49 of the 70 seats and the AAP has been restricted to 21. For the first time in more than two decades,
the BJP is set to return to power in Delhi. The last time the BJP was in power was in 1998 when Sushma Swaraj was the chief minister.

In a post on X, Shah said that people of Delhi refused to be misled by “false promises” of AAP this time and punished the party of misgovernance.

“The people have responded with their vote to polluted Yamuna, broken roads, overflowing sewers, and liquor shops opening in every street…Whether it is respect for women or the respect of unorganised colonies, or opportunities of self-employment, Delhi will now become the ideal capital under the leadership of Modi Ji,” said Shah in Hindi.

Separately, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the BJP is going to take Delhi to new heights of development.

“The people of Delhi have trusted and blessed the BJP after nearly 27 years. I thank the people of Delhi for this,” said Singh.

The BJP is set to return to power in a landslide victory. Not just it is set to win Delhi with a two-third majority, but the party has defeated some of the tallest AAP leaders as well,
such as party convenor Arvind Kejriwal on New Delhi seat and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
