A bridge in the Kishanganj district of Bihar collapsed, marking the state’s fourth such incident in as many weeks. The connection between the two cities has been impacted by the collapse of a 70-meter bridge that connected the Bahadurganj and Dighalbank blocks on a branch of the Kankai river. The incident resulted in no injuries.

According to officials, the river’s level had increased and the strong current had caused some of the bridge’s central pillars to sink approximately 1.5 feet.

There were concerns that the bridge would collapse at any moment when cellphone footage from the location went viral on social media and shown the central section of the structure sagging and nearly touching the swiftly flowing river.

Following his team’s arrival at the scene, Bahadurganj police station chief Abhinav Parasar blocked off both ends of the area to prevent vehicles from entering after learning of the occurrence.

Relatives say the bridge was constructed roughly six years ago.

The Road Department has also arrived at the location and is looking into the situation.

According to District Magistrate Tushar Singla, the bridge that spans Madiya, a little tributary that joins the Mahananda and Kankai rivers, was constructed in 2011.

“The water level in Nepal’s catchment area has suddenly increased due to heavy rainfall. The powerful current was too much for one of the bridge’s pillars to support,” he was reported as saying by Press Trust of India.

Last week, the districts of Siwan and Araria reported three instances of bridge collapse.

On June 19, just before it was officially opened, a section of a bridge that was being built over the Bakra River in the Araria district of Bihar collapsed. The bridge, which cost ? 12 crore to build, collapsed in a matter of seconds. The enormous slabs of concrete being carried away were captured in horrifying videos taken there.
