Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), and Murray Auchincloss, CEO of bp, on Thursday jointly inaugurated Jio-bp’s 500th EV charging station at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.
This milestone coincides with the installation of the 5,000th Jio-bp plus charging point in India.
As per a statement by Jio-bp, the new charging station will serve the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, Jio World Plaza, and Jio World Convention Centre, expanding the infrastructure in this prominent business district.
Jio-bp, a joint venture between Reliance and bp focused on fuels and mobility, has expanded its network of EV-charging stations at a rapid pace and in just a year’s time, it has grown from 1,300 to 5,000.
At the launch event, Anant Ambani said, “Jio-bp is playing a pioneering role in accelerating EV adoption in India. With the largest network share of fast-charging stations, fastest growth in EV-charging infra, and highest reliability, Jio-bp is offering a well-packaged, digitised charging solution to millions of Indians.”
As per the statement, 95 per cent of Jio-bp’s EV-charging network comprises fast-charging stations. These stations boast a 96 per cent uptime, making the joint venture one of the country’s most reliable charging networks.
Jio-bp is also the first in the industry to introduce 480 kW chargers backed by unique Customer Value Propositions (CVPs), which enables it to provide quick and efficient charging at locations including malls, public parking, corporate parks, hotels, and wayside amenities.
Also,Jio-bp’s Pulse app enhances the user experience, allowing drivers to easily locate and access charging stations.
Emphasising bp’s strategic vision, Murray Auchincloss, said: “EV charging is one of bp’s key transition businesses in our journey to becoming an integrated energy company.”
He went on to say that the joint venture with Reliance combines the strengths of both companies to offer a convenient and efficient charging solution across India.
Apart from EV charging, the joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and bp markets conventional fuels and offers alternate fueling options. Jio-bp also provides doorstep diesel delivery through its ‘Jio-bp Fuel4U’ service, and its aviation brand, air bp-Jio, supplies Aviation Turbine Fuel across India.
