An Air India Mumbai-New York flight was diverted to New Delhi Airport on Monday after a security concern arising out of bomb threat.
Air India flight AI119 which took off for New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport around 2 am was diverted to the Delhi airport soon after.
Spokesperson of Air India said, “Flight AI119 operating from Mumbai to JFK on October 14 received a specific security alert and on instructions of the government’s security regulatory committee was diverted to Delhi. All passengers have disembarked and are at the Delhi airport terminal.”
A report by ANI quoted Delhi Police as saying that the Mumbai-New York Air India plane is currently stationed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport with all standard safety protocols being followed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew on board.
All passengers are safe and further inspection is underway, officials further said.
