After similar mishaps in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, the canopy outside the airport in Gujarat’s Rajkot has also collapsed.
The incident happened in the passenger pick-up and drop area outside the airport. The PTI news agency shared the visuals of the incident.
No one was injured in the incident. In the similar incident in Delhi, one person was killed.
The Times of India reported sources in the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation as saying that the canopy fell when the maintenance workers were removing the accumulated water atop the canopy.
The incident came amid a string of rain-related incidents in the country. While airport canopies collapsed in Delhi, Jabalpur, and Rajkot, several bridges have also collapsed in Bihar. The India Today has reported that five bridges have collapsed in Bihar in the past 11 days.
As for Gujarat, India Today reported the weather department have said the rainfall will continue for the next five days. Cyclonic circulation has been reported over southern Gujarat and that’s what brought widespread rain in the state.
