A Drishti-10 Starliner drone, built by Adani Defence and Aerospace, crashed into the sea near Gujarat’s Porbandar coast during acceptance trials before its delivery to the Indian Navy. According to reports, the drone lost command mid-flight and plunged into the water. No injuries or collateral damage were reported.

The drone, operated by the manufacturer, has been recovered, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest technical issues may have led to the malfunction.

Manufactured at Adani Defence and Aerospace’s Hyderabad facility, the Drishti-10 Starliner is an advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platform. It boasts an endurance of 36 hours and a payload capacity of 450 kilograms, making it a critical asset for maritime security, according to The Mint.

The drone is certified under STANAG 4671, a NATO standard for unmanned aerial systems, and offers fully autonomous capabilities, SATCOM-based operations, and over-the-horizon surveillance. It also features four hard points on its wings and a spacious internal bay for special missions.

This state-of-the-art platform is designed to enhance the Indian Navy’s ability to monitor vast maritime territories, providing unparalleled situational awareness and strengthening national security.
