The wait as well as the suspense on who gets what in Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government is finally over two days after he and 24 ministers were sworn in.

On Friday, Naidu announced that Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief, Pawan Kalyan, will be his deputy.

Apart from being the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, actor-turned-politician, Pawan Kalyan, has also been allocated Panchayat Raj, Rural Development & Rural Water Supply, Environment, Forest, Science & Technology ministries.

Pawan Kalyan played a pivotal role in making the Telugu Desam Party-led National Democratic Alliance (TDP- JSP-BJP Alliance) in Andhra Pradesh a reality.

In the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections, as per the seat sharing agreement, the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance swept to massive victory, winning 164 of the 175 seats.

JSP won 21 seats in the Assembly election as well as two in the Lok Sabha polls which was held concurrently, giving it a 100 per cent strike rate. The TDP won 135 Assembly and 16 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP won eight Assembly and three Lok Sabha segments in the State.

The YSRCP was reduced to 11 Assembly and 4 LS seats, a massive drop from its 151 Assembly and 22 LS seats in 2019 elections.

Naidu congratulated Pawan Kalyan on becoming the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh. “I congratulate all my colleagues in the Cabinet on being assigned their portfolios,” the Andhra CM said in a post on X.

“Together, we have taken a solemn oath to serve the people of Andhra Pradesh and usher in an era of People’s Governance. I’m confident that you shall strive to deliver on our people’s expectations as Ministers. My best wishes to you all as you embark on this journey of service and devotion,” he further said.
