In a tragic incident in Bihar’s Siwan district, a Class 10 girl, Priya Kumar, lost her life after being pushed off the rooftop of her house by a troop of monkeys. The incident took place while Priya was studying on the rooftop to enjoy some sunlight amid the cold weather.
According to witnesses, a group of monkeys appeared on the rooftop and started harassing Priya. Terrified and unable to react immediately, Priya froze in fear. Hearing the commotion, nearby villagers began shouting to scare the monkeys away, which encouraged Priya to move toward the stairs.
However, just as she tried to escape, one of the monkeys jumped aggressively at her and pushed her off the rooftop. Priya fell to the ground, sustaining critical injuries, including severe trauma to her head and other parts of her body. She lost consciousness on the spot.
Her family quickly rushed her to Siwan Sadar Hospital for treatment. Sadly, doctors declared Priya dead on arrival, citing multiple injuries as the cause of her death.
Sujeet Kumar Chaudhary, Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhagwanpur police station, stated that the girl’s family refused to conduct a post-mortem and did not file any formal complaint regarding the incident.
Villagers in the area have reported frequent disturbances caused by monkeys. Despite these issues, no official action has been taken to address the growing threat posed by the animals in the locality.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the need for better wildlife management in residential areas to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
