With the arrival of 2025, people are eagerly looking for the status of banking services on January 1 (Wednesday). Generally, banks are still accessible online and through their respective mobile apps. However, it always helps to be aware of holiday schedules so that one doesn’t have any difficulties in planning finances for the festive season.
Banks in India remain closed on regional, national, and festive holidays, plus the second Saturdays and Sundays of every month. For specific dates, it is advised to refer to your local branch bank’s holiday calendar.
Are Banks Closed on New Year’s Day 2025?
Barring some specific exceptions, all Indian banks will have a working day on January 1, 2025, which falls on a Wednesday. As of yet, though, the RBI hasn’t declared the holidays of the new year. The West Bengal banks are scheduled to shut down entirely in the state on January 1, said an SBI representative.
On December 31, 2024, being a Tuesday, most of the banks will remain open except those in Mizoram and Sikkim. They will be closed on that day to commemorate New Year’s Eve and Lossong and Namsoong festivals.
Uninterrupted Access to Digital Solutions
The banks continue to operate even on holidays and weekends, giving uninterrupted access to online solutions and mobile banking applications. Customers can also withdraw cash at ATMs on any holiday or festive day.
Staying updated with your bank’s operational status helps in avoiding disruptions and managing transactions efficiently during the festive season.
