Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on three separate state visits starting November 16, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Tuesday.
PM Modi will first travel to Nigeria on November 16 at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The trip to Nigeria will be the first visit by a prime minister in 17 years.
During the visit, the Indian prime minister will engage in discussions aimed at reviewing the strategic partnership between India and Nigeria and exploring new opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties. He is also set to address members of the Indian community in Nigeria. Since 2007, India and Nigeria have been strategic partners, with expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, and defense.
Following this, he will fly off to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to attend the G20 Summit. Here he will put forward India’s positions on various issues of global importance and build on the outcomes from the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and Voice of the Global South Summits which were hosted by India in the past two years. On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister is expected to meet several leaders.
Finally, on the last leg of his bilateral visits, PM Modi will go to Guyana at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali from November 19 to 21. During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with President Ali, meet other senior leaders of Guyana, address the Parliament of Guyana and address a gathering of the Indian diaspora.
In Georgetown, Guyana, the Prime Minister will also participate in the Second CARICOM-India Summit and hold meetings with leaders of CARICOM member countries to further enhance India’s long-standing friendship with the region.
