Nayab Sing Saini on Thursday (October 17) took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed the government in Haryana for the third straight term. This will be Saini’s second tenure as Haryana’s CM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, were among the BJP and NDA leaders who attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Against pollsters’ predictions, the BJP won the 2024 Haryana assembly elections by securing 48 of the 80 seats. The Congress party, which was favoured to win on the back of anti-incumbency, has alleged that the BJP won as a result of electoral manipulations. The Election Commission (EC) has rejected the claim.

Beside Saini, Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Panwar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda, and Vipul Goel took oaths as members of the council of ministers.

Saini became the CM of Haryana weeks before the 2024 general elections in March. The BJP named him as the chief ministers after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned. Khattar has since been accommodated in the Union Cabinet following the Lok Sabha elections.
