The Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (ASP) has forged and alliance for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.

Announcing the alliance between the two parties during a joint press conference on Tuesday. JJP leader Dushyant Chautala said, “Out of 90 seats, JJP will contest on 70 seats and Azad Samaj party on 20 seats.”

Chautala also took the opportunity to criticise the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, particularly targeting Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, whom he accused of merely making announcements without action.

He said that his party would not align with the BJP as he is aware how the saffron party breaks its allies.

“If we have the numbers, we will form a government against both the Congress and BJP. Our coalition aims to provide Haryana with a stable government,” he added.

Referring to Dushyant Chautala as the former Deputy Chief Minister and future Chief Minister of Haryana, Azad said, “We both will continue to raise the voice of farmers for the next 40-50 years. Our efforts will ensure a strong foundation for Haryana’s future, improve the income of farmers, and elevate the standard of education.”

Azad expressed confidence that the alliance would bring about significant change in Haryana.

Haryana will go to polls in a single phase election on October 1, with the results scheduled to be announced on October 4.

The BJP is eyeing a third consecutive term, while the Congress is aiming to reclaim power in the state. The JJP-Azad Samaj Party alliance now seeks to form a third front in the state.

The current tenure of the Haryana Assembly is set to end on November 3.
