The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday will release the revised results of the NEET-UG 2024 exams after the Supreme Court on July 23 ordered to retract compensatory marks given to students on a Physics question in the original test.
Earlier today, reports said that the scorecards were already published by the testing agency. However, the Ministry of Education clarified later that they have not released the revised scores yet.
“Students are unable to access the results on it. It will be released soon. The link is an old link,” the ministry said.
The link that was reflected on the official NEET website was an old one.
In May, when the original NEET-UG exams were held, the NTA awarded grace marks to a certain set of students due to an error in their question papers that had an incorrect reference in their class 12 NCERT science textbooks.
However, in its judgment, the apex ruled that only one correct answer would be accepted, and responses deviating from this would not be awarded marks.
How will it impact students?
This decision cost five marks to 44 candidates who scored a perfect 720/720 in their exam, achieved All India Rank (AIR) 1, and downgraded their positions.
The revision in the NEET UG-2024 scorecard will impact approximately 4.2 lakh aspirants who had initially chosen the previously accepted answer in their physics question paper. Consequently, the number of high achievers is expected to decrease significantly, dropping from 61 to around 17.
NEET-UG counselling to be held soon
Meanwhile, the counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Under Graduate will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) following the release of the results.
This counseling process is used to allocate admissions to MBBS and BDS programs throughout India. Candidates can indicate their preferences for colleges and courses during the registration process and choice-filing stage.
