Puja Khedkar, the trainee IAS officer marred in controversies, was supposed to show up at her training centre in Mussoorie yesterday but failed to report after the Maharashtra government put her probation on hold last week.

On July 16,
the government ordered Khedkar to return to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) by July 23. “You are hereby relieved from the district training program of the state government of Maharashtra… You are instructed to join the academy at the earliest but not later than 23rd July 2024 under any circumstance,” the letter stated.

It is important to note that she has been giving the press her statements on the case for the past couple of weeks.

Trainee IAS Puja Khedkar came into the spotlight when accusations surfaced that she had installed a beacon on her personal vehicle. Subsequent reports then revealed further allegations of misconduct against Khedkar.

The Maharashtra cadre officer faces accusations of using fraudulent means to clear her civil services exam, including allegedly misrepresenting herself under the
physical disabilities and OBC categories, and misusing power and privileges during her posting in Pune.

The
Delhi Police, last week, registered a case against Khedkar under several sections including Forgery, Cheating, IT Act and disability act.

“UPSC has filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Ms. Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar for misrepresenting and falsifying facts to obtain extra attempts in the UPSC examinations, beyond the prescribed limit. Consequently, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law, and investigation has been taken up in the Crime Branch,” Delhi Police said.

Centre asks Pune cops to give details on Khedkar’s parents

Not just Khedkar, but her parents have also been in the eye of the storm. While her mother is in judicial custody for allegedly brandishing a gun at farmers, her father is no different and has been on the wrong side of the law.

The Centre has directed the Pune police to apprise it of the marital status of the parents of controversial IAS probationer Puja Khedkar amid allegations that she fraudulently availed of the OBC non-creamy layer benefit in the UPSC exam by claiming that they were separated, an official said.

Talking to PTI, a senior official of the Pune police confirmed that the central government has asked them to apprise it of whether the parents of Puja Khedkar – mother Manorama and father Dilip – were divorced.

“We have been asked to find out and inform the central government about whether Puja Khedkar’s parents were divorced. In a nutshell, it has asked us to verify the actual status of their marriage/divorce,” the official said.
