Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal has moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the stay on his bail order.

Previously, the Delhi High Court on Friday had stayed the bail granted to Kejriwal by the trial court in the Delhi Excise Policy case. He is being prosecuted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on money laundering charges.

In the Supreme Court, the matter is likely to be mentioned before the vacation bench tomorrow, according to CNN-News 18.

After the trial court granted bail to Kejriwal on Thursday, the ED challenged the order in the Delhi High Court. The ED argued that it was not allowed to make its due case in the trial court. The Delhi HC stayed the trial court’s bail order until it passed an order on the ED’s challenge. Then, after hearing the arguments, the HC reserved an order and said the stay on the trial court’s bail order will remain in place until the HC pronounced its order for the ED’s challenge.

In the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam, the ED had arrested Kejriwal in March. In May, he came out on bail for the duration of the Lok Sabha elections at the orders of the Supreme Court. After the campaigning ended on June 1, he was back in jail the next day.
