The police in Karnataka’s Bengaluru are investigating a case in which computer-generated nude photos of class 9 students were allegedly circulated.

The alleged incident came to the light when parents of one of the students approached the Cyber Crime Cell of Bengaluru Police. They complained that nude photos of their daughter generated via artificial intelligence (AI) have been circulated in an Instagram group, according to CNN-News 18.

The report said that the incident happened on Friday, as per the parents’ complaint.

Perpetrator could be known to girl: Report

The perpetrator could be known to the girls as parents suspect that the photo of the girl used in morphed nude photos was taken from her Instagram account which was private, according to CNN-News 18.

A private Instagram account is one where only followers can see the content shared by the user. You can only follow a person once the person approves your follow request.

While the Cyber Cell of the police are working to track the IP address involved in the case, the school has also said they will launch an internal investigation into the matter, as per the report.

The report said that the school has called one student suspected to be the culprit as part of the investigation.

“The parents of the girl and suspected students are meeting. Let’s see what they decide. It’s a sensitive matter, has to be handled carefully,” a source was quoted as saying.
