Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has said that she has been getting death and rape threats over the assault case she is pursuing against Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant (PA) of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
Sharing screenshots of abusive messages that show threats of sexual violence, Maliwal said on X (formerly Twitter) that “it is very clear” that they are trying to intimidate her into withdrawing her complaint Kumar.
In her post on X, Maliwal further accused YouTuber Dhruv Rathee of making a one-sided video on the case and refusing to listen to her side of the story.
Maliwal has alleged that Kumar had assaulted her earlier this month at Kejriwal’s residence when the CM was present in the house. Based on her complaint, the Delhi Police filed an FIR against Kumar and arrested him. The investigation is ongoing in the case.
The AAP has termed the case a conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has accused Maliwal of working as a pawn of the BJP. On her part, Maliwal has accused the AAP of running a campaign of character assassination and victim-shaming against her.
‘Entire party machinery, supporters vilifying & shaming me’
Maliwal said that said that the entire AAP machinery is working against her.
“The manner in which the entire party machinery and it supporters have attempted to vilify and shame me, speaks volumes on their stand on women issues,” said Maliwal in her post on X.
As for the death and rape threats against her, Maliwal said she has reported them to Delhi Police.
Maliwal said that the threats against her were “further exacerbated” when Rathi made what she called a one-sided video against her.
“After the leaders and volunteers of my party i.e. AAP orchestrated a campaign of charachter assassination, victim shaming and fanning of emotions against me, I have been getting rape and death threats. This got further exacerbated when YouTuber Dhruv Rathee posted a one-sided video against me,” said Maliwal.

Slamming what she called a one-sided video by Rathee, Maliwal said that she tried to reach out to the YouTuber but he “ignored” her calls and messages.
Maliwal dubbed Rathee’s conduct as shameful and said he was behaving like a spokesperson for AAP.
Maliwal said, “It is shameful that people like him, who claim to be independent journalists could act like other AAP spokespersons and victim shame me to the extent that I am now facing extreme abuses and threats.”
Maliwal then went on the issue a five-point rebuttal to Rathee’s video by listing the points that “he failed to mention in his 2.5 minute video against me”.
