Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi has alleged that the Swati Maliwal case is a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and that Maliwal is being used by the BJP as a pawn.
Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP of AAP, has alleged that she was assaulted by Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant (PA) of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal at the CM’s residence while he was present in the house. Kumar has been arrested in the case.
Atishi further claimed that the BJP is used the corruption case against Maliwal to turn her into a pawn.
Maliwan, a former Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), is accused of irregularities in the recruitment of staffers at DCW. She is being investigated by Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).
“This whole incident of Swati Maliwal is a conspiracy hatched by BJP. Swati Maliwal is being used as a pawn in this conspiracy as there is a case against her in ACB (Anti-Corruption Branch). The chargesheet has been filed in the illegal recruitment case against her and she is near to getting convicted. This is BJP’s standard operating procedure,” said Atishi to ANI.
Drawing a parallel with the case of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in which women wrestlers had accused him of sexual harassment, Atishi said, “This is the same Delhi Police who did not file an FIR on Brij Bhushan Singh until court intervened even though women wrestlers sit on the streets.”
In this Maliwal case as well, Atishi said that the Delhi Police has not acted upon the complaint of Kumar of alleged security breach and trespassing by Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence.
“The Delhi Police is working as per the direction of BJP,” said Atishi.
