The political weather in India is heating up with more number of seats going to polls and the Lok Sabha 2024 poll results date approaching. In an election rally in Bihar’s Muzaffarnagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at Congress-led INDIA bloc and attacked alliance leaders Farooq Abdullah and Mani Shankar Aiyar over their remarks.
In an apparent reference to a recent statement by National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah, without mentioning him by name, PM Modi said India will make cash-strapped Pakistan wear bangles.
‘Pakistan ko choodiyan pehna denge’
“INDI gathbandhan ke neta khete hai ki Pakistan ne choodiyan nahi pehni hain, are bhai pehna denge. (The INDIA bloc seems to have leaders who are scared of Pakistan and have nightmares of its nuclear power,” the Prime Minister said.
“Ab unko aata bhi chahiye, unke pass bijli bhi nahi hai, ab humein maloom nahi ki unke pass choodiyan bhi nahi hai. (They don’t have flour, they don’t have electricity, now I have come to know that they even have adequate bangles.)” the PM said.
Last week, Abdullah warned about Pakistan being a nuclear power in response to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s comment on people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir wanting to merge with India.
“If the defence minister is saying it then go ahead. Who are we to stop? But remember, they (Pakistan) are also not wearing bangles. It has atom bombs, and unfortunately, that atom bomb will fall on us,” Abdullah had said.
Rajnath in an interview to PTI said India won’t have to capture PoK with force because “its people, on their own, would want to be part of the country after seeing the development in Kashmir”.
INDIA bloc leaders ‘coward’ who were ‘scared of Pakistan’s nuclear power’
Intensifying his attack on Congress-led INDI alliance, PM Modi said: “The INDIA bloc seems to have leaders who are scared of Pakistan and have nightmares of its nuclear power.”
“But, we must look carefully at the opposition which seems to be full of cowards and timid people, who give a clean chit to Pakistan on terrorism, raise doubts on surgical strikes… their Left allies even want our nuclear arsenal to be dismantled,” he said.
An old video featuring Congress leader Aiyar went viral last week, in which he urged the Indian government to “respect Pakistan” because it had atomic bombs.
The PM Modi further said: “Aisa lagta hai, jaise INDI gathbandhan walo ne Bharat ke khilaf he kissi se supari lay le hai (It seems that leaders of INDI alliance have taken money to speak against India).
